An information network supporting those who keep poultry for pleasure on health and management issues; lobbying on their behalf for the protection of small garden flocks, and campaigning for improved welfare conditions within the poultry industry.
UPDATE November 2017: No need to subscribe/log in any more, just click on the NEWS link above to access the latest news, useful tips, links and products to keep your birds safe, happy and healthy.
We’ll keep an eye on current best practice in the media, both here and abroad, to provide up-to-date practical advice pertinent to small-scale poultry keepers. We are a fledgling group, hoping to extend our remit as support grows.

Existing organizations that represent the commercial poultry industry, smallholders, breeders or those who exhibit, offer advice that seems irrelevant and draconian to those who just want to keep a few hens in their gardens.

In the event of another health scare, it is important that our voice is heard among other interested parties, and that our flocks are protected, both from the disease and a visit from the men in white. During the avian flu outbreak, the Henkeepers’ Association was represented as a stakeholder during meetings with Defra, and we frequently advise the media on poultry keeping issues.
